A restaurant for extremely large parties. Serves all its dishes in family style portions. The spaghetti with meatballs is easily enough for 10. Pizza is excellent here too, especially the quartofino pizza or something. Its rolled up and very tasty. With the right number of people, this restaurant is not too expensive, and good food can be had by all. Some dishes must be avoided because they do not have the depth of spicing and flavor that would be expected in a higher end restaurant, but be aware that this is not really a high end restaurant - just a place with big plates.

Carraba's Garden Restaurant in Houston

Outback Corp.'s high end Italian location. not really much of a chain. This location on Kirby is very busy, and serves excellent foods. As is standard with outback corp., you get a lot of food with a 15-20 dollar entre. Steaks here are very well prepared with excellent searing, and many of the seafood offerings are very good, though have small servings. Nice atmosphere seems festive and warm. Thai Spice in Houston

Thai Spice has a great lunch buffet with various selections of chicken, fried rice and pad thai amongst other dishes. It's priced reasonably and has a pleasant atmosphere: simple, not too noisy. Houston Japanese Taiko Grill

Often overlooked though excellent Japanese establishment. Habachi service is good, though the chef that I saw wasnt particularly spectacular. Theres something about Habachi that makes you expect so much more than what it actually is, but that aside, the chef was excellent. Meat was well cooked, and the slightly trendy though comfortable surroundings were smoke free and private. Excellent for lunches too, with reasonably priced 8-10 dollar lunches and sushi/sashimi plates. BRILLIANT specialty rolls: very creative, artistic, and well presented. Would be a top recommendation just for its rolls, but excellent in all places. Lunch can be had for less than 10 dollars if careful, 15 easily. Atmosphere is slightly hectic, because this place is so incredibly popular. Servers running around with gigantic skewers of meat. huge salad bar - it doesnt LOOk so big, but its "T" shaped, and very broad, with many many items. Very expensive - standard cost is 50-60 dollars, and they charge for water. Probably a little too costly for the overall quality and experience, but definitely should be tried once. They serve amazing little cylindrical crusty pastries filled with a fine melted white cheese. Very nice, until you realize its probably the most evil means of filling you up. Meats were good, but perhaps so many red meats get repetitive. More authentic rodizio style "brazillian bbq" places have fish and other seafoods, but this is strictly poultry, pork, and beef. Yao Restaurant Houston Review

The first review was pretty accurate when I first visited Yao Restaurant soon after it opened. I saw their review on Houston Chinese Restaurant Guide. I've since been back 4 or 5 times and I must say that they have worked all kinks out of the system, from the kitchen to the service. The food is quite good (Peking duck highly recommended), and the ambiance excellent. If you’re looking to make you taste buds smile and enjoy a great atmosphere, this is your place, but if you're looking for a bargain mean, try a Hungry Man in the frozen food department of your local grocery. I ate at Noodle House today and found it to be a very good place to have Chinese food. Of all of the Chinese Restaurants in Houston out there , you might ask why is this place better? Well, they have lunch specials daily for under $4. There lunch meals include a plum tea drink and hot and sour soup. For instance, today there was a special on sizzling iron black pepper steak for $6.95. The special was you buy 2 of these and you get the third free. So I ate with someone and I have a take home lunch for tomorrow. One good deal if anyone knows about this dish.

Pine Forest Garden Vegetarian Restaurant is one of the most impressive place I have ever been to. It is not like the conventional vegetarian restaurant. Pine Forest is very clean and the food is awesome. In order to enhance the taste of the dishes, some vegetarian restaurant tend to use a little too much oil when they cook. But in Pine Forest Garden, the cooking oil is used in a very moderate amount and yet the dishes are still tasteful. Also believe it or not, the vege Kung Pao chicken tastes just like the real Kung Pao chicken. Also, Tofu in Szechuan style is also a must try. This spicy tofu dish taste especially delicious when mixed with rice. The Lunch buffet is also a great deal. For $5.50, you can have a very healthy alternative lunch without sacrificing the taste.

On the outside, Grand Cafe might not seem much. But once you walk into this restaurant, this cozy small restaurant will grab your attention. The colored lights hanging down the ceiling is a very nice touch along with the wall accent lights. The chairs are elegant, however, the tables don't match quite as well.
The Food
You get the traditional Chinese dishes here along with a few Chef specials.

Located on the outer edge of Diho Square, parking on the weekends can be hard to find.

This place has one of the best beef noodle soup I have ever tasted. The soup is made to perfection, the beef is so tender, and the noodles, oh the noodles is so good. Price is reasonable but the food is exceptional. Another dish I would recommend is the Fried Crispy Chicken. This is my favorite dish everywhere but I love it here the most. I would recommend this place to anyone who want a traditional Taiwanese meal or just want to try something new.

Nippon is located on Montrose just a little bit passed under the 59 bridge if coming from Hermann Park. Nippon offers quality Japanese food at a fair price and the regular lunch menu is about 7 dollars. Most of the lunch dishes comes with miso soup and Japanese style salad. Their katsu-don (fried pork rice) is one of the best lunch deals. Katsu-don comes in a traditional Japanese lunch box, which contains one large piece of fried pork chop and rice. On top of the pork chop, the delicious sweeten soy bean sauce is poured on top of the rice and the port chop. This meal also comes with a bowl of miso soup and Japanese salad. The salad is a great appetizer, with the Japanese style dressing (which taste a bit like the regular ranch dressing but a bit more sweet). The service is friendly and the atmosphere is very charming. The owner is a delightful lady who is attentive to her customer's needs. My favor fishes are Garlic Chicken and Spicy Mint Chicken. The basil and chicken in the dishes make the taste simply irresistible and just want to keep coming back for more. I have not had a bad meal at Golden Room for the three years, and I strongly recommend this place for all you Thai food lovers.

Tea Cafe is on the corner of Diho plaza. On the outside Tea Cafe has a few tables and chairs set up under the shade, for those who like to hang out with their friends. Inside the store, you will see it is very nicely decorated. From the uniform golden oak table and chairs to the classical Chinese style teapot display on the wall and almond color curtain with the red lantern hanging on the side, this place is culturally balanced.
