Renaissance Festival

Soc. For the Performing Arts - Bocca Tango: Julio Bocca and Ballet Argentino. 8pm. In his 2007 Farewell Tour, American Ballet Theatre’s Argentine superstar Julio Bocca, together with members of his Ballet Argentino, will perform their tantalizing “tango with a twist” showcase. Stages Theatre - Black Pearl Sings. Houston events at Stages Theatre, 3201 Allen Parkway. Depression-set play depicts an encounter between Susannah, a "song collector" for the Library of Congress, and Pearl, a prisoner descended from slaves whom Susannah discovers to be a living library of folk song. Treasures from Shanghai: 5,000 Years of Chinese Art and Culture. Featuring 77 sets of objects from the Neolithic period (circa 3,000 B.C.) to the Qing dynasty (1644-1911 A.D.), this incredible collection includes rare examples of oracle bones that represent the first form of Chinese writing, bronze vessels, polychrome potteries, sculptures, porcelains, paintings, jade/bamboo carvings and lacquer works. Lucy's Legacy: The Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia. Discover five million years of Ethipia's diverse history and culture. The exhibition will include the original fossilized remains of the 3.2 million-year-old hominid known as Lucy. RED HOT - Asian Art Today from the Chaney Family Collection.
