China Newest Railway, Qinhai-Tibet
China today launched the first-ever passenger trains to and from Tibet on the world's highest railway, an event described by President Hu Jintao as a "great miracle" and "another magnificent" achievement in the communist nation's march towards modernization. The Qinhai-Tibet Railway travels between two countries through the Himalayas, to a height of 15,000 feet above sea level.
Already the First Train to Llhasa, Tibet caused problems for passengers as they stepped off the train weary, and suffering from altitude sickness.
Nevertheless, it is still a sight to be seen. Visit Houston Community News for more news reports.
