Houston News: Heighs Lounge Owner Shot to Death
Investigators are combing over evidence in the killing of a woman on the northwest side of town, reports Houston News. Police say three family members were inside a home on N. Main and E 25th overnight when three suspects forced their way inside with guns and robbed them.
While all of that was happening, two other family members entered the home, one of whom was the woman who owned a lounge next door. She was shot and killed during the attack.
Her brother was wounded. He suffered a head injury, but authorities say he was able to walk to an ambulance before being transported. He's expected to be OK.
The lounge owner was very well-known in the neighborhood. She's had her business in the Heights area for at least 15 years.
"It's very sad. I don't know what to say. I'm just feeling bad," said Jose Martinez, a friend of the victim. "My wife and she were like family. I'm just a friend."
The victim was in her 50s. Her identity hasn't been released.
Investigators are interviewing as many people as they can to try to figure out what went wrong. There's no word on any suspect descriptions, but police say that there were three men who were involved in the violent attack.
