Well hello to everybody again. It is the weekend again so that mean its time for my journey to
Houston Chinatown again. For those who are reading my journal for the first time, my writings are the first hand accounts of my weekend journeys to
Chinatown Houston. This week, I have a tax review class at the Houston Chinese Community Center off of Town Park. I do a bit of volunteer work during the tax season helping out the IRS VITA program. This week was there refresher class and we got our new tax materials. We had a hour for lunch so I headed to Yellow River Chinese Restaurant in
Dynasty Shopping Center . For those who want the location of this place, visit
Houston Chinese Restaurants Directory for the detailed information. Anyways, I like this place because it is like a mini Chinese version of Luby's Cafeteria. You have a choice of 20+ different kinds of Chinese food to choose from. This is how it works:
- You walk go through the line and they will ask you whether you want white rice, noodles, or porridge.
- Next, you can select 4 types of Chinese food, just like Lubys.
- They will hand the tray to you and you just check out.
- Oh I always pick up a bubble tea too (only one dollar)
- The entire meal is under 5 dollars.
I had white rice with Chinese cooked eggs, green beans in black bean sauce, mapo tofu, and beef stew and of course 1 bubble tea to wash it down. It tasted great and I finished in about 30 minutes. It was time to head back for class. My journey to Houston Chinatown has ended. Since the holidays are coming up, I will have more time to head back to Chinatown Houston. Stay tuned for more of my adventures coming up this week.
